organized religion is ridiculous, and for the most part it is. If there is a higher power and/or creator, how could we possibly hope to know or understand it in the ways that organized religion claims to? How could we possibly know whether it gives a tinker's dam about the human race, much less a human's sexual orientation? Humans made up the "homosexuality is evil" thing to justify their own superstitions and fears of those who are different from most of us. The rest of religious lore and teaching is, for the most part, just the same - made up to support preconceptions and prejudices. Why would an all knowing, all powerful creator reveal its true nature only to a backwater culture on a backwater planet? No less than Bishop Desmond Tutu made this same point in an appearance at the Richmond Forum that I attended. It's just hugely ethno- and anthropocentric to believe we do or even CAN know the nature of whatever creator may exist, much less what it thinks about this or that issue. Any religion beyond "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is just vanity, just a baseless claim to know the true nature of creation and a collective crossing of the fingers that there's an afterlife.
