I don’t see how you interpret anything I’m posting as a lecture.
Certainly not to you. I think the protestors on whole need a semester of lectures to gain the understanding of the region they lack, but I wasn’t lecturing them here either.
I am seeing the same old defenses, or misdirections, or rationalizations, of these protests from those on the left who think of them as fellow creatures of the left, very much as Yascha Mounck describes in his book Diverse Democracies, which I’ve referenced here frequently in these conversations. I wish everybody opposed to Trump would read it.
I complain about the protestors, you respond with a request for a break because most Americans favor Israel’s right to respond. You asked for a break from a strawman you set up, not anything I said. And then here, it’s the usual “oh why worry about them, the other side’s calling out the national guard! Worry only about that side!”
This country desperately needs more worry about extremism and autocratic tendencies (like free speech means I’m free to speak and you’re not) in all its manifestations. Not just those we perceive on the other side. [Post edited by hoolstoptheheels at 04/29/2024 1:21PM]
