I suppose we can dismiss Nat’l Review too, but it claims the student organizers encouraged students to stand with protests by the gates to block police access. And then helped lead some of these chants in question.

I haven’t been there, but I suspect the odds are considerable higher than 0. Now, should people be free to chant “burn Tel Aviv?” Maybe, that’s a different question. “Terrorists please kill soldiers” - not a great way to bring sympathy for the cause, and I can see more clearly how that would run afoul of school rules.

Very difficult situation, and I feel like the one thing everyone from Speaker Johnson and Lawler to the protesters who cursed them yesterday agree on is the U pres has to go. She looks like a universal scapegoat to me. As Hooda says above, I think the initial removal of tents and arrests of students ratcheted tensions up. Otoh, I also suspect school rules were being violated.

Mostly, I suspect Moses himself would be under attack from all sides if he were the Columbia president. It’s a nearly impossible situation. I think all the efforts to make as much political hay of it as possible are making that inevitable.
