were overly zealous in using the NYPD to clear out the encampment the other day. (see NYPD accounts that they didn't encounter much if any behavior rising above the level of peaceful protesting) Not that the protests weren't happening before that, but that only pissed off even more students and led to them chiming in against the administration.

And again, the above appears to be going on outside of the campus most likely by those with no affiliation to Columbia itself, so there isn't much the leaders can do about that (other than closing campus to non-students, which they've already done).
