That analysis is flawed on every level. Israeli politics involves many
Issues. Israel did vote for peace in the 90s. Euphoria was running high after a half century of conflict. What happened? Arafat was pressured by his extreme (Hamas, which years earlier Israel helped bring into the world to be a counterweight to the godless plo), causing him to walk from almost everything he demanded. Hamas helped Israel turn away from peace with well-timed terrorist attacks. In that way, Hamas returned the favor to the Israeli far right. Israeli sentiment did turn to rage. Bibi was the primary political beneficiary of that.
That’s the irony - Bibi and Hamas have actually been each other’s best political booster, even while they spar geopolitically. The sparring is the point.
The overall politics of Israel is way more complex than allows for backwards reasoning, that the existence of a far right ultra-nationalist govt proves peace isn’t possible. Peace is further away than it’s been in decades, but that’s been a joint venture of Israeli and Palestinian extremists and religious zealots.
Israel’s own peace and prosperity depends upon finding a solution. Its own democracy won’t allow for a River to sea genocide (something I agree does not constrain Hamas, and is an absurd blind spot of pro-Palestinian folks). And the current situation is not sustainable.
So Israel must relentlessly pursue a solution, because anything less is against its own interests.
