I will say this. I have more than a passing interest in the craft brewery

business, and in the 2000s and 2010s the market for stainless fermenters, kettles, mash tuns, and brewery piping was suddenly (and then continuously) flooded with good looking and incredibly cheap (compared to US and Canadian systems which had been predominant) equipment.

However horror stories related to inferior product, shoddy welding, thinner gauge stainless or even "stainless" which wasn't stainless also soon proliferated. And warranties upon which no corrective action could ever be obtained...

This is apropos of nothing other than that, maybe the loss of Chinese steel isn't something which we should particularly bemoan. I don't generally disagree with your free market trade policy preferences.
