Judges he appointed to the SCOTUS hear cases that involve him

I'm guessing it is not unprecedented to have an administration involved with litigation going before judges (and other court officials) they appoint. I'd love to trust our institutions and the people running them.

What is unprecedented is having a former (and perhaps future) POTUS going before several different judges because he's facing criminal charges (and / or going before the SCOTUS for related reasons).

The right answer here is for the country to kick that former POTUS to the curb. Unfortunately, he has a cult that just refuses to quit him and we have a nominating process that, best I can tell, is fucked up beyond all recognition. On that count, he was 100% correct. He could shoot someone on 5th avenue and not lose a vote from his supporters (though he'd probably lose millions from the "hold your nose and vote for Trump" set).
