But I think most everyone on here who was formerly in the GOP has a similar standard for what it would take to consider voting for Republicans again: decoupling the party from Trumpism and having the sane leaders actually oppose Trumpism. At a bare minimum, that means people like Sununu don't hop on the Trump bandwagon when he wins the nomination. For me, it's a step further, which is to so completely denounce Trump that you say it would be better for America for Biden to win. Romney has said that. Christie has more or less said that. Haley thinks it and implicitly says it by not endorsing him, but won't say it out loud. Same with Pence. Meanwhile Sununu is trying to preserve his own future in the party, by standing by Trump, a man who at various times (based on a Google search) he has said contributed to the insurrection (his words), was crazy, and that everyone should be concerned with someone with Trump's mentality going into the White House.
