I know many here talk about the problems extending beyond Trump, but it’s hard to see another pol with the same ability to, for example, make the Speaker of the House come calling on bended knee to try to get his cooperation. So, there really could be a sanity infusion just from breaking Trump’s cultish hold. On actual policy makers. Think about it - I can understand some objections to FISA, but the party of national security did an about face on it because Trump raised a personal grievance against it. Against the very same provision he himself extended, even with a comment that the provision in question is not the one which had been used against him.

Do rwnjs question that about face? Nope. That would be blasphemy. I don’t think we’ll see another demagogue like this for some time.

I gotta say - it would be most helpful to the country if right of center folks, like Tuck and Hazer, who do understand this threat, would hold their noses and vote to end it. It’s not a statement of unrequited love for Biden. It’s just saying Trump’s a unique threat to the world we lead (with which they seem to agree), and Biden isn’t. Not in that way. He’s the other option, and except for the cultishly devoted to Trump, few of us have been thrilled with our choices in pres elections.
