to get it right, and where results could be trusted. (not to mention a solidly blue state where fewer elections are close) Not a one off right out of the gate as we saw in 2020. VA for example hasn't gotten a signature from me to match since I registered in HS Gov't class. Good luck using that as a valid "matching" requirement. My kids simply registered on line with no signature needed. (although presumably they could get a signature via DMV when they got licenses, for those where that applies)

And do you really want the AL (or NC) GOP in charge of determining how stringent (or loose) the matching parameters are set? You really don't see how that could be abused, particularly in close states?

Sorry, I simply will never understand why it's too much to ask for those that want to vote absentee to upload a pic of that ID, or even just key in the ID#, when they request their absentee ballot. We have to do it to e-file taxes already, and there's countless activities where you are required to use an ID. Even for, gasp, our constitutional right to buy a gun. You can even follow the WI model and allow that request to cover a year or cycle of elections, so you don't have to request one for every election, for all I care.
