I think it opens the market up a bit to people who wouldn't be able to

afford it otherwise, but certainly the costs don't end with the $1. Some towns in Italy have been doing the $1 house sale for a while now with some positive benefits. Interestingly, many of the people buying and putting money into them are foreigners.
