LOL. I'm fine with judging good v bad at the ballot box, its legal v
illegal that I'm more interested in here. The law enforcement analogy was curious. Those guys don't have anything close to total immunity (and rightly so).
All that said, I do agree with him in principal. We really don't want to open up investigations, etc. every time we have a change of power. You can see how this could be weaponized. But based on the evidence we've seen, what Donald Trump is accused of doing is so far beyond "cross(ing) the line" that it has to be investigated. To not might set a worse precedent for this country than doing it (I think we're starting to overdue impeachments at this point...).
The reality is that Mitch McConnell could have solved all of this a few years ago, as could have GOP leadership and GOP voters. If theDonald did what he did on Jan 6 then just disappeared, I honestly wouldn't have a real issue with stopping with "truth finding" and focusing our prosecutorial efforts on those that committed the crimes directly. Same with the papers (hell, if he had just given them back with a mea culpa I would have had no issues moving on). As a country we should have just determined that theDonald is a fucking loser and walked away from those shameful moments to heal, taking care to document and prevent similar abuses in the future.
But we just seem incapable for quitting Donald J Trump for some reason that I just can't figure out. It is amazing.
