The best part about his off the cuff exchanges is they weren’t angry. As one observer put it - Biden looks angry too often, and he looks like an old man yelling at the kids to get off his lawn.

He came out filled with piss and vinegar because he spent days perfecting that. That’s why he sounded the way he did - they were scripted remarks, heavily practiced. The impressive part was the cool with which he bantered with his hecklers (which was obviously also expected, but you can only prepare so much).

Biden that night was consistent with who he is, with major gaffes like confusing names of world leaders out of it (still missed the first name of the Georgia murder victim) because it was all very heavily rehearsed. It’s not that Biden has magical powers of annunciation when angry. When he gets impatient in unscripted exchanges, his anger gets in the way.
