fertilized egg must be used the way you seem to think. At a start, during the first week if fertilization, one can already determine if there are major genetic issues. You are suggesting that these zygotes be required to develop into embryos and then I assume every attempt made to have them implanted. For this and other reasons, you are going to have some fertilized eggs created in the process that are not going to be used to try and further develop into even an extremely early stage embryo.

I think it perfectly reasonable for any person to say they don't want to go through IVF based on personal moral concerns about this. It is quite different for the government (or in this case, a judge in Alabama) to define the law this way. You may think it is "strange", but this not the standard. If you think this is truly proper or Christian -- you have a very "strange" view of Christian theology or sensible government/judicial activity in the United States.
