Good post. Some disagreements but a thought out response.
In the disagreements, I still understand your points.
I agree about TJ. The Embargo was not a good idea. There is no way to evaluate Biden right now. I'd put Washington over FDR but still rank him in the top tier. I disagree that his policies prolonged the Depression, and he managed a difficult challenge leading up to WWII as well as management of the war effort. Wilson fell in my view because of failures with racial issues and the introduction of political repression during WWI, and he really should have resigned after the stroke.
LBJ? NSAM 273. Sometimes I wonder. I tend to side with historian Fredrik Logevall: “…the better argument is that JFK most likely would not have Americanized the war, but instead would have opted for some form of disengagement, presumably by way of a face-saving negotiated settlement.”
And after the missile crisis, Curt Lemay and Tom Power hated JFK. Joining Allen Dulles.
