Why are we giving money to Israel?


I just hit the IMF's site and reviewed Israel's metrics. They look pretty good, and a damn sight better than ours in several relevant areas (debt to GDP; debt per capita).

Will they cease being our friend if we don't write a check in support of their war? Money is tight. Israel can use its own borrowing capacity if it needs cash.
