There is certainty something to be said for a familial connection to a pla

place. I can see a potential value to maintaining that connection as it likely increases one affinity for a place. Is a school (or any other organization) better off having more families connected but less deeply connected or fewer families connected, but those connections are deeper. Not sure, but seems that it could be a reasonable consideration to take into account for the schools.

I see a pretty big difference between race (or gender or some other general characteristic of a person) and legacy. Race, if it is used to disadvantage someone, could be used generally and universally. Legacy is a specific consideration about a specific person at a specific place. The parents' college only helps their kid at those specific schools - the fact that I went to UVA bears no weight for my kid getting into any school but UVA. That's very different than my child's race being considered, by every school applied to.

We will see I guess . . .
