I’m gonna give you my Colin K analysis, even though I doubt anyone cares
What I think. But I’m still buzzing from last night’s game. I didn’t give the 9ers a chance after the 1H. Me of little faith. They did get lucky - imo, without the face mask Aiyuk reception at the 5, niners lose.
Kaepernick - an aside, Alex Smith showed himself to be as classy as anyone ever to play QB after he got Wally Pipped by Kaep. Who appeared to be all world for around 2 years. He was Mahomes before Mahomes. Then, defenses figured out his read option, and that he’s really not as multidimensional as a guy like Mahomes, and he fell off a cliff. Once he suffered setbacks, he seemed to lose confidence, and made a lot of bad decisions. He also started to lose the spotlight as the next big thing. While he was hot, the most socially conscious thing he did was to warmly kiss his own bicep after TDs. Once he wasn’t so hot, he discovered his conscience. Call me cynical - I think maybe the point was the spotlight, not the activism. Nothing since then has really changed my view. Which is too bad - he remained good enough to be at least a backup and better than many starters, so, I do hope his convictions were sincere, since he sacrificed what could still have been a productive career imo. Cancer on society for taking a knee - that’s a tad strong for my tastes.
Another aside - last year Jimmy G also showed himself to be a class act. I hope he lands somewhere and gets another look. The niners kicked him to the curb after doing very little other than win (and get hurt), and a lot of QBs would have been prima-donnas over that. When the supposed future, Lance, got hurt, he stepped in without a complaint and hit the ground with the best stretch of his career (until he got hurt again, of course).
