Yeah, I'm not sure how you could. The lease will typically require the


renter to renew with say 60 days notice, if not longer, so there's no way that can happen without the tenant knowing what that increase will be at that time.

Now if you're on a month to month, all bets are off, but the tenant can also leave the landlord with zero rent at the last minute too.
