the situation is somebody else's fault and that somebody else must be destroyed or marginalized. It is a very powerless way of thinking, that external forces are responsible for your grievances both real and perceived. And if you're powerless, then you must stake your loyalty to a leader who will save you, a leader who is the only one who can fix things, but who in fact is using your feelings and resentments to attain and hold power.
