It’s clear from her statement and the campaigns follow up the she is trying


to distinguish between “America” being racist and there being racism / racist people / citizens. She talking about the racism she has faced at the same time. The campaign added, America has always had racism, but America has never been a racist country.

Might not agree, but she clearly isn’t saying racism does not exist in America.
