Yes. He was admitted into a Military Medical Facility ICU


There may have been some discussions between the Secretary, his Staff or even his family at the time about who needs to know or who is telling who but none of that should matter. Basic leadership 101 is to keep the next level of supervision informed about key developments and in this case next level of supervision is the White House, and if the Secretary doesn’t make the call or he is incapacitated, then staff needs to step up. I don’t think we fully know his level of clear thought? But ICU due to severe pain sounds like he might have needed some help?
