Our elite universities are far more culturally, ethnically, economically diverse then they were when I went to college for sure, and even more so than when my kids were in college 15 to 20 years ago. If a University is going to invite someone to attend, it has an obligation to provide a place that is as physically safe and as culturally aware as possible . For everyone.

It does feel like that some universities have may be taken that stewardship a too far. But admission profiles and UVA seem to get higher each year. It’s really hard to see where UVA becoming a lesser institution. Maybe things have been taken to more of an extreme in the Ivy League. I’m not sure however, how making some accommodations for students from a certain background hurts students of other backgrounds.
