Maybe I'm naïve, and I'm willing to hear counterarguments, but I don't
really think there is any systemic anti-Semitism in Harvard's administration, and a lot of people are implying that there is. I also don't think there is any systemic anti-Muslim bias either. I think that they are just trying to navigate a highly emotional subject with a bunch of know-it-all 18 to 22 year olds who think they know it all (like they always have).
Sure, in large populations, there will be some of every demographic, including bigots who often speak the loudest.
Now these institutions are under a microscope for any hypocritical positions they may have taken in the past, and that is fair to some extent, but also, I think it is unrealistic to ask any large organization, with many spokespeople, to be wholly consistent on any issue.
For sure, they should call out any bigotry/anti-Semitism, sexism, (you name it), but to be fair, it is a difficult balancing act with free speech and freedom to explore the edges of thought (which is their mission).
For clarity, I'm not defending any offensive speech.
