It's a tough call. My gut tells me you can't allow people to call for the
extermination of jews... or lynching of black people. You couldn't get away with that at any workplace in America, so companies seem to have no problem not tolerating hostile, offensive speech. On the other hand, companies aren't meant to be places for the free exchange of ideas, so that's not the best comparison.
Regulating speech becomes tough though. Where do you draw the line. I think it's fair to argue that biological men who identify women should not compete against biological women. It should be done respectfully and not in a degrading and hurtful manner to the transgender women (I think that's the right way to refer to a biological male transitioning to be a woman) but the discussion should be allowed. But what if the transgender community says they feel threatened or offended by that? Does the university step in to shut it down? So I come down more on the RML side of things when I think about the broader implications.
