He was a chief architect of the kind of geopolitical chess game we got in with the Soviets, trying to color as much of the globe blue instead of red, as though time began with the Cold War.

It was like communism vs capitalism completely eliminated all of history which preceded it. And that nothing at all mattered, other than keeping countries out of the Soviet orbit.
