Not sure your response addresses his point

His point is the dems never talk about it, never advance any policies (they talk alot about "after the fact" policies...like the 'kinship policy'...a good policy FWIW, but its a bandaid on a gash). They talk about minimum wage advancements, unionization etc...which really have little to do with fixing the problem. And again, he is correct, they spend an unusual amount of time speaking of bogieman politics (as do the GOP...so no party has corner on that market).

OF COURSE, I haven't seen much from GOPs regarding policy...but that's another issue. unfortunately they veil a lot of their talk in religion when speaking of this.....enough already.

The data is very clear on this, and BOTH parties should be promoting policies that do whatever they can to keep families together once kids are a part of the equation. Hard to believe pols from across the aisle can't come together on this. We don't need BS policies to put the other party in a box, but well thought our ones that benefit our society. I'm not sure what those policies are, others smarter than I have written about this subject (without all the religious connotations). .

I've seen the impact of poor single women trying to raise children....unless the person is a supermom (and there are precious few), the results are not good. F*&&^$ stressful as hell holding down a low paying job, paying rent in a place where lots of other temptations and dangers are just outside the door for the kids, shopping and cooking daily for your family, keeping your kids on a good path, and trying to navigate the school system and all the other government agencies to advocate for your kid. Throw a dependency issue into that equation..... Kids absorb that stress when it is hidden, and absorb it as well when it is overt.

We need to do better on both sides of the aisle. But NEITHER parties does much....IMO it is one of the single most important things we can do as a country to improve outcomes for the next generation. The family I work with, receives tens of thousands of dollars of help in one form or another, daycare, therapy, healthcare etc and the kid is doing so much better now, but it is hard to determine whether it will "stick". Kid is just 11....has a long road ahead...and again, it is an after the fact problem. So much easier to raise a kid with two adults in the household to help distribute the load both financially and emotionally and with combined energy of two.
