I honestly think a plausible scenario is Dems flipping 5 GOPers

to change parties. You could get Don Bacon, some of the NY and CA crew in swing districts, maybe Dan Newhouse in WA, and promise you won't run anyone against them in a primary. Offer them plum committee assignments and rules that will let them bring moderate bills to the floor. That probably makes more sense than trying to put a moderate GOP speaker in place with primarily Dem votes.

Your scenario makes sense if you figure McHenry would be Speaker in name only and they would have rules in place so that any bill with majority support comes to the floor.
