Certain polls absolutely do not bear that out. I think it was a recent
CNN poll that indicated a strong edge for Trump among independents who said ideally, they’d rather vote for neither. Dems take this like an article of faith, but they shouldn’t. It’s a neck and neck race and little developments could easily tip it.
I’m surprised I think this, but I think DeSantis might be most vulnerable in a general election. Trump never signed a 6 week abortion ban, or went to war with Mickey Mouse over political speech. LGBTQ folks might prefer neither, but I bet DeSantis is more objectionable to them and their allies.
I think we have to see how the variables play out over the next year before drawing conclusions about each candidate’s vulnerability in specific matchups.
