On 1/6, his life was literally under threat, and he clearly had tense moments when he appeared unsure that he could trust the secret service agents assigned to protect him.

I think we saw that guys more like Graham, McConnell, and McCarthy, who clearly saw the threat Trump posed to the transfer of power while the insurrection was under way, cave under the political pressure and take the path of least resistance to their own careers as they see it. Pence didn’t do that - it took some courage in those fraught moments.
