I saw a program contrasting police work in the UK and the US


In the UK, investigators operate from the perspective of wanting to find the truth. In the US, the emphasis is on closing cases. Lying to and coercing a suspect is very common in the US. I read an interview with a NYC detective who was famous for closing cases. He bragged that he could get anyone to confess to a crime, given a day or two of interrogation If you're not familiar with Louis Scarcella, read this link..
