My 2 nephews are 26 and 24. No license for either. They live in large

"Close to City" suburbs where there's some access to public transportation, but not a LOT. However, they CAN find an apartment that's close enough to work that it's walkable, as well as close enough to grocery and other places. Online life covers a bunch of their social life as well.

But also look at the expense side for a moment. A CHEAP car is still going to be $300 a month. At that age, as boys, it's another $200 a month for insurance. $50 a month for gas if you don't drive a lot. $50 to $100 a month over time for oil change, brakes, tires, etc. So that's $600 - $700 a month. How many Uber or Lyft rides will that get you? Probably more than enough for the occasional times you'll need them. Throw your buddies a few bucks for gas on occasion when they drive.
