Not really, but that's not an insignificant point.

Yes, the biggest point was that this lame "gotcha" to desperately try and blame Trump wouldn't have even applied to this train. Not to be overlooked is the fact that the cause of the derailment hasn't been determined, and if anything indications seem to point elsewhere (“Surveillance video from a residence showed what appears to be a wheel bearing in the final stage of overheat failure moments before the derailment,” the NTSB said. The wheelset and overheated wheel bearing are currently being examined by NTSB engineers."). And let's not dismiss that much of the danger seems to be coming from the decision to burn, not the derailment itself.

Petey doesn't deserve the blame for any of that. Petey can only be blamed for what he's done, or in this case not done. Which is A) "step up and show up", and B) taken any steps to re-instate that brake mandate the actual partisan driven are wanting to blame Trump for, even if it wouldn't have made a difference in this specific derailment.

Fortunately, I suspect Norfolk Southern is about to find out they need to recalculate that cost benefit analysis also mentioned in the link, and increase their "cost of derailment" factor.
