There have always been libertarian or free market Republican types who hate
The New Deal with every fiber of their being, despite the relatively obvious fact that it was a smashing success. I don’t think FDR was infallible, but most of what you mention as being “Trumplike” was anything but. FDR was elected by a sweeping popular mandate to take on the Great Depression, modernize our social infrastructure, and use government to pull the economy out of the “free market” tailspin it was in. You talk about packing courts — that was because we had an even more reactionary and rigidly ideological SCOTUS at that time than we do today, who wanted to cripple his ability to do so in the name of their antiquated and completely failed political ideology. That is in no way comparable to behaving like a petulant toddler or an internet troll 24/7, using the white house for his own personal financial gain or actively dividing the country over a pandemic rather than unite us against it.
Japanese internment camps was, in hindsight, racist as fuck and embarrassing. No argument there, but has nothing to do with the New Deal.
