Here, too, but they're not legal mandates, just requests/expectations of
voluntary compliance by different businesses and not "enforced" in any way, at least that I've witnessed.
For example, I still feel a little weird walking into a business with such a sign while not wearing a mask even though I am in fact fully vaccinated, but no one has any way of knowing that, and no one has asked either. Heck, I'd be surprised if anyone did. Still, I could waltz right in, knowing that I had my handy dandy official (and legitimate) CDC COVID-19 vaccination record card ready and waiting to smite them with, should the need arise.
But this was a case of an actual law enforcement officer unilaterally deciding and announcing that he wasn't going to enforce a legally imposed mask mandate that's uniformly applicable to everyone, not because it was unenforceable, but because he judged it unfair to the vaccinated AND that there were not enough resources. The latter should have been his sole and sufficient argument.
The irony of that, however, was that by adding the whole thing about science and it being unfair to the vaccinated, he was revealing his politics and suggesting he would have been okay with a MUCH more difficult to enforce mandate that excluded the vaccinated, with the same limited resources.
