I agree and even at the time it seem like a bad idea, but I still haven’t s

seen any data that shows exactly or even approximates the impact of that decision.
I don’t know if you saw this article I linked below but it’s a fairly evenhanded discussion of the decision and events preceding and afterwards. The authors were even aware that former nursing home residents who died in hospitals had been counted as in the hospital deaths rather than nursing home deaths, and the article is from August I believe.
Regardless I agree it seemed flawed at the time but when it was first implemented he had reason to fear that he was going to run out of hospital beds. As it turned out the Javits Center and the Navy ship help solve that problem before it became too cute. I also believe that many people when they hear this story think immediately about their grandparents or parents assisted living facility. And the rule only applied to nursing homes who could attest to having the capability of caring for the residents.
I’ve never been a fan of the Cuomos and I think Andrew’s ego is as big as all outdoors. He did fill a leadership gap in the early stages of the pandemic, but he should be held accountable for the decisions he made and especially held accountable for any attempt at covering this up or pressuring other government officials to be quiet.
