Floyd and his family, that would still spell bias. I don’t think the tendency necessarily arises from all the evil cops with evil hearts. Cops are human, and if their experiences and their perceptions tell them a black guy’s more likely than a white guy to use deadly force, they’re naturally more on edge.

It’s more complicated than “cops are evil”. Take Bloomberg’s stop and frisk controversy (boy would he be toast now as the nominee) - imo not borne of overt, hateful racism. He would tell you it was data driven, and even effective.

Be that as it may, from the standpoint of an innocent black guy, it feels like collective guilt due to offensive skin tone. So not calling this “bias”, because fact is cops have more encounters with people of color, is purely from the cops’ perspective.

From an innocent black guy’s perspective, it’s still bias. Or from the not so innocent dude’s perspective, if he dies in a choke hold because cops overreacted due to skin color and little else. Then you get into deeper sociological discussions about root causes of more frequent police encounters with non-whites, and it gets more complicated.
