The connection to police is a real concern

About 10 years ago, my sister was hit head on by a drunk driver who crossed over the center line and smashed into her car. It was really bad, but thankfully she and my niece survived. The drunk driver was a law enforcement officer and somehow nothing ever came of the accident, nor could we get a straight answer from anyone.
