Well, I respectfully, if 100% wholeheartedly, disagree.
Her words were her words. They were not about the victims of 9/11, they were about the victims after 9/11, at least as she sees it. If only you registered even half this much offense when Trump used his words to help create this impression among Muslims, which Omar was trying to articulate:
- they danced in the streets Jersey City as the towers fell
- all Muslims who share a neighborhood or a mosque with a terrorist should be held responsible for the actions of the terrorist.
- all Muslims should register as Muslims with the govt.
Yeah, if you were being honest, and tried for a moment to walk in the shoes of an American Muslim, I think you'd see Omar's remarks in an entirely different light. But there is absolutely no question here: she did not say what the Post's propaganda claims she said, or what the president's propaganda claims she said. You are offended by remarks that were never made, not by this congressional rep.
You want to argue that she is wrong about the way Muslims have fared in this country since 9/11, have at it. At least you'd be responding to what she said. Otherwise, hold Trump to the same standard you appear to want to hold all pols to, and stop believing false propaganda.
