troubled by what happened on election night. I don't get the sense some of our self-proclaimed "libertarians" do. Really easy to blow off all the racism and xenophobia when it literally doesn't affect anyone you know. Even easier when you start believing that rural white people are an oppressed minority. Yeah, I get the sense that there are several on here who are good people but privately or subconsciously like some of what they are hearing from Trump or, while they may not admit it, feel it resonating with them.

Just like it's easy for us walkers of the mean streets of Arlington to dismiss the economic woes of places like Green Bay and Suburban Detroit, it's easy for people to be blind to the effects of a US president being elected on xenophobia and race baiting.

Really sad, but my son believes two of his friends -- both Asian -- are moving out of the country because of the election. I think the kids must have heard their parents say that and think it's true.
