Look, the officer was black - no issue here." We all have our prejudices (some conscious some not) and black officers are not immune from this. All sides are quick to use anecdotal evidence to support their ideas. There are some Facts however. It is the police's job to bring people to justice not provide justice regardless of the scenario and every effort should be made to avoid deadly force. No one disputes their right to defend themselves but all too often it appears to be a shoot first ask questions later. Police officers have a dangerous job, no doubt but there should be a higher standard placed on those that wield that level of power and authority. The other fact is these shootings disproportionately affect black males. It lies with Both the communities and the police to steer the conversation to how training and attitudes can be improved instead of to you this me that.
