Yeah, I would have extracted a pound of flesh and made an example


of the guy if I were whole foods. I wouldn't have necessarily tried to punish him monetarily, since a) nothing this guy could pay would make a bit of a difference to Whole Foods and b) it might make whole foods look like a bully, but I would have agreed to settle the countersuit if Mr. Brown agreed to a couple hundred hours of volunteer work at the charity of his choice.

You can't defame a company with a blatant lie and then face no consequences. Whole Foods was undoubtably hurt by these false accusations. So make an example of the guy to show there ARE consequences, but make the consequences benefit someone other than whole foods. Win win.
