I had an econ course in grad business school taught by a free marketeer. He told us the greatest enemy of the totally free market was fraud. Okay, fine. (Another fallacy that the totally free market is built on - everyone has complete and correct information on the market.) But as someone who totally opposed government action on anything, he believed that there shouldn't be an SEC because the market will expose the problems so there's no need for any outside intervention. He, along with the rest of the GMU Econ Dep't., advocated private ownership of the streets and we would purchase national security from a Defense Corporation.
