I confess that I enjoy seeing the neocons going apoplectic over Trump

Lindsay Graham was melting down today (along, no doubt, with all of his warmongering pals) over the Donald's foreign policy speech. I'm intrigued by the shift that this may bring, if the Republican party adopts what Graham is calling "isolationism."

It seems clear to me that Mr. Trump is unfit for the Presidency, but dang it's a shame that we're getting good sense (along of course with plenty of BS) from an unelectable clown. His foreign policy as described in this speech is far preferable, imho, to what we've seen from Mrs. Clinton.

"Unlike other candidates for the presidency, war and aggression will not be my first instinct. You cannot have a foreign policy without diplomacy. A superpower understands that caution and restraint are really truly signs of strength. Although not in government service, I was totally against the war in Iraq, very proudly, saying for many years that it would destabilize the Middle East. Sadly, I was correct, and the biggest beneficiary has been has been Iran, who is systematically taking over Iraq and gaining access to their very rich oil reserves, something it has wanted to do for decades. And now, to top it off, we have ISIS."

NOTE: if the race is Trump v. Clinton, it will be the "liberal" Democrat who supported the Iraq war and the Republican who is denouncing it.

"The countries we are defending must pay for the cost of this defense, and if not, the U.S. must be prepared to let these countries defend themselves," he said. "We have no choice." (sounds like the Doctors Paul)

"We do not go abroad in search of enemies,” he said, “We’re happy to see our old enemies become friends, and friends become allies.” (Echoing John Quincy Adams, of course).

"I will never send our finest into battle unless necessary, and I mean absolutely necessary. I will only do so if we have a plan for victory with a capital V. Our goal is peace and prosperity and not war and destruction." (sounds like Teddy Roosevelt).

I think this is going to resonate with voters who are tired of spending our blood and treasure to be policeman of the world, especially considering the evidence that doing so only makes matters worse.

Who knows, maybe voters will hear Gary Johnson saying this too and realize there are more than two choices in this election.
