It's that way in Israel too


According to an Israeli friend of mine, the ultra-orthodox just have lots of children and live off welfare. They're exempt from military service and (according to him) they believe the shouldn't have to work because praying is their work. Their treatment of women is shockingly demeaning and they treat Palestinians as subhuman. I realize it's probably unfair to paint them all with so broad a brush but I saw nothing to contradict that assessment during my visits.
