This way. I think the Baldwin “sweaty balls” SNL spoof was riffing on its overt liberalism. Decades ago.

I think we have a few problems. I don’t entirely dismiss the idea that media outlets started advocating about Trump Russia rumors. I think many outlets have struggled with reporting on Trump’s words, pointing out where they believe he’s lying, without trying to sound like they’re taking sides.

The stats the author pointed to are very consistent with the polarization of the media market in general. Recall people fleeing fox in waves when it called the ‘20 election for Biden. The media market now demands to hear what it wants. NPR’s experience is not unique, and those stats thus can’t be attributed only to NPR missteps.

I think it’s part of a bigger story of the media generally sorting itself into echo chambers. Which does actually resemble the way media’s worked for most of our history, before the dawn of TV briefly changed things.

I’d like to see a return to the age of Kronkite, but I’m not holding my breath, because I don’t think that’s what the market demands. Most of the people bitching and moaning about the other echo chamber demand conformity in their own.
