It's 10 years in NY for a residency claim and you have to have lived


in the property uninterrupted for 10 years and have paid property taxes. A tenancy claim is 30 days. You can still be evicted after 30 days, it just requires a judicial eviction notice.

The 30 days is stupid, but it's been that case for a long time. Here's an article from 1987 on it.
