When has anything in that part of the world ended in a satisfactory

outcome? Clearly Hamas knew this was the likely scenario. Maybe they could give up the hostages and start a dialog. Unlikely. Maybe the Palestinian people could give up the perpetrators. Unlikely. Maybe Israel pulls back and Hamas becomes a responsible player? No evidence to suggest that.
