for the Republican candidate to campaign in a more moderate tone and make it look like he can be the voice of compromise to bring people together. It's pure political spin, but it can be effective for those wanting an excuse to vote Republican --- and he isn't ever going to lose the more extreme anyway. But it's hard to envision a human being likely less capable of doing this than Trump. And I don't really think is in play at all ---- this is just a continued push of the agenda that really is more of today's Republican party.
