And-extreme as it is--it is actually mainstream Republican now. I think


that's the point that needs to be made. Obviously the Speaker was in favor of it (since he decides what gets voted on)? That's as mainstream as you can get, in defining a Party's agenda.

Apologies in advance and will withdraw this assertion if he didn't, too lazy too look up now...but logic says it doesn't get to a vote unless he allows it.
